Joining forces to help Leeton’s cancer patients

The Leeton Golf Club and Can Assist Leeton joined forces to raise funds for cancer patients recently.
Hitting the golf course to raise cash is proving to be popular in Leeton in 2024.
In recent months, the Can Assist Leeton branch in conjunction with the Leeton Golf Club, held a fundraising day on course.
Golfers came from far and wide to play a round or two and enjoy a delicious morning tea and lunch, catered for by Leeton Can Assist members.
The idea was to keep building on Can Assist’s funds, which go towards helping Leeton shire residents fighting cancer.
“We were so lucky with the weather this year, in previous years it has sometimes been very cold and we struggled to keep the soup hot, however, this year it was a perfect spring day,” Leeton Can Assist secretary Mary Dodd said.
“Thanks must go to the golf club for supplying raffle prizes.
“It was a good social outing for everyone and they got to chat to many golfers about Can Assist.”
The day netted $2100 for Can Assist, which will now be used to help those battling cancer with the financial burden that comes with a diagnosis.
Leeton Golf Club president John Martin said the organisation was always happy to help groups such as Can Assist where possible.
“We were happy to support such a vital local charity,” he said.
“The fact that the money stays in town and helps local cancer patients is very important to us.”
