Some of our volunteers at the Music Night
Over the past three months, our branch has participated in a wide range of events, all of which have been successful in raising valuable funds.
Once again, the Hanna family generously hosted a black-tie music evening in support of Can Assist Armidale, with all funds raised benefiting our branch. The event was also highly successful in increasing awareness of our organisation. Members assisted with preparations the day before, while another group attended on the night to serve food. The following message was shared on social media the next day:
“A massive thank you to the incredible Can Assist volunteers for being the ultimate hosts at last night’s black-tie music night. From the warm welcomes to keeping everything running smoothly, your dedication made the evening at the Hanna family’s residence truly unforgettable. We are so fortunate to have such a passionate team supporting our community.”

Our long-term member and keen golfer, Liz O’Hara, organised a Charity Golf Day, with proceeds directed to our branch. A total of 104 golfers teed off at the Armidale Golf Club. Many of our members attended to assist on the day and to enjoy the camaraderie. The event was a tremendous success.

Our committee continues to be proactive in identifying opportunities to promote the support that Can Assist provides to cancer patients facing financial hardship. Members hosted a stand at the Seniors Expo, where they spoke with attendees and distributed brochures. They also accepted an invitation to be guest speakers at another Rotary Club, where their presentation was very well received.

Volunteers assisting for the Tour de Rocks cook up
Members contributed to the cook-up for Tour de Rocks annual bike ride. Tour de Rocks raises significant funds through this event and remains our major donor. This year, 330 riders and catering staff required a total of 2,000 meals during the trek. Our members contributed by assisting with meal preparation and by providing cakes and slices.
Our membership continues to grow as more people recognise the meaningful contribution our group makes to the community. Members also greatly value the sense of fellowship and connection within the branch.
