Yass Can Assist Holds Morning Tea for Mothers Day

Can Assist Yass hosted their Mothers Day morning tea at Linton Village on May 6 at 10:00am, seeing so much success that Can Assist had to find extra chairs and tables to cope with the crowds.

Geoff Frost, President of Yass Can Assist said, “It went very well. I don’t know how many people were there. It was a full room. Put it that way. Everybody had a really good time. They’ve become a bit of an institution, actually in the village, which is really nice.”

“We also had a little bit of a table outside where we sold some various bits and pieces, which also went very well, including sold a wheelchair that had been donated. We had a couple of new members there and they were good and they seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great for us to mix socially with Can Assist.”

“We’ve got a small group of Linton village Can Assist members who really work hard to put this on and do a great job since it has gone this well. The inflation buster raffle was drawn as well. Thank you to all the businesses that donated to that, it is really appreciated and it was a successful raffle, and again, lots of Can Assist members were out selling raffle tickets, which was really good.”

“We’ve been doing morning teas at Linton village for a long time and they are really good, and really cooperative about it. They say that it’s good for morale in the village as well as for getting a sense of community going in the village.

“Lauren and Ian, who run the place, they are really supportive, helping in all different ways that they can and we are really, really happy to work with them. Overall, it’s socially successful as well as being financially successful. Off the top of my head, I believe we made over a grand, but socially it was very successful. Everybody was there and they all had smiles on their faces and everybody yarning away to one another. It was excellent.”

“That would be the most important part that everybody was having fun and having a good time. It means that we could have another one and people will turn up and enjoy themselves again. I’m very pleased with how it went.”
