Dear members, volunteers and friends,
The highlight of this quarter took place on 2 May, when the Board members and members from fourteen of the branches came together to meet one another at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Narrandera. Every person in the room had the opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss their commitment to Can Assist, along with the challenges the important community work entails. Compared to those in metropolitan areas, rural cancer patients are diagnosed later, are more likely to die and seventeen times more likely to report geographical and financial barriers to care. Distance matters – it creates inequitable access to best treatment options. Can Assist is a registered Charity that provides cancer assistance for country NSW through financial assistance, practical support and raising awareness.
