Dear Friends,
Where has the winter gone?
Since I updated you all in early June the Board and Sydney team delivered the Can Assist City Meets Country Race Day on 24 June at Royal Randwick Racecourse. For the second year running, this day met with fundraising and friend-raising success. The news of the day was reported widely, including in Dunedoo due to the donation Can Assist made to the Branch from the funds raised by the auction of a fantastic framed Winx Poster given to us by the generous owner, Debbie Kepitis. Compared to those in metropolitan areas, rural cancer patients are diagnosed later, are more likely to die and seventeen times more likely to report geographical and financial barriers to care. Distance matters – it creates inequitable access to best treatment options. Can Assist is a registered Charity that provides cancer assistance for country NSW through financial assistance, practical support and raising awareness.
