Tocumwal: Christmas lunch
Celebrating a successful year members of Tocumwal Can Assist gathered for an early Christmas lunch on 4th December. 36 of our 60 members were in attendance. President Roberta had arranged the decorations and created a truly festive feel for attendees. MC – Geoff Westmore opened proceedings and introduced President Roberta Wereta. New members were introduced and given their welcome letters and Can Assist lanyard.
New member Suzanne Munro contacted Roberta the next day, “yesterday was a great day, your special touches were amazing – tables etc. I really love what was in our envelopes – l feel so proud to be part of Can Assist.”
Roberta congratulated members on a great year given the challenging circumstances of 2020 with coronavirus.
This year Can Assist Tocumwal has increased the number of community members we are supporting by 85% and increased our membership by 70%.
The branch acknowledges the great publicity through media outlets particularly in local media Toc Flyer and Southern Riverina News.
Tocumwal Can Assist recipe book is ready for launching and a huge thanks was extended to Gayle Chenoweth for her drive in taking the idea through to a finished product. Thanks, was also extended to Lorraine Blain for her support to Gayle in drafting the book.
Members enjoyed an absolutely delicious Christmas lunch created by Shane and his team at the Farmer’s Arms Hotel Tocumwal. Members enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate their contributions which do make a difference for many in our community. MC Geoff Westmore hosted a very creative and entertaining KK session to finalise the event.
