Hay NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards

Reg Fell

Can Assist Volunteer, Reg Fell, was honoured at NSW Volunteer Awards in Wagga recently.

Reg Fell is a quiet achiever, and a hero at our branch. He was nomination by the Hay Can Assist branch for his extraordinary work in collecting and cans for ‘Earn and Return’ and single handily raising an astronomical $88,990 in can collections. Known around Hay as the Can Man, he tirelessly works to collect cans and bottles from households and organisations around the town, loads them up on his ute to take them to be converted into cash donations. His contributions will no doubt only continue to soar.

Named Hay Citizen of the Year in 2020, Reg did previously donate funds raised to Hay Golf club where he worked, to help upgrade the facilities. Since 2016 he has donated the money raised to Hay Can Assist.

Undoubtedly, Hay Can Assist branch is very proud and grateful to the assistance that Reg provides in donations, recycling and the assistance this provides to our patients.

Reg goes about his community work with minimal fuss. “We are very proud of Reg he does a big job, and we congratulate him on his well-deserved award,” said President of Hay Can Assist Jane Griffiths.
