Deniliquin: Supporting Can Assist

Bianca Armytage and Kellie Crossley were presented with 2020 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll certificates by NSW Member Murray Helen Dalton in Deniliquin on Wednesday. They are among 104 rural women in NSW on the latest honour roll, and more than 900 since the roll started.

Mrs Armytage was recognised for her role as a founding member and patient liaison officer with Deniliquin CanAssist, and her work in the health industry before that.

‘‘Bianca and another friend kick started the Deniliquin CanAssist branch in 2017 which provides financial assistance to community members with cancer.

‘‘Bianca has provided support to every patient that comes to CanAssist. Every week she follows up with existing patients, contacts new patients (often in her work lunch break) and liaises with relevant health professionals and support services. Bianca’s empathy and listening skills are exceptional and she does her utmost to ensure CanAssist can help in any way to help make a person’s cancer journey that little bit easier.’’

Mrs Crossley is a fellow founding member and president of Deniliquin Can Assist and has also been recognised for her roles in broader health action groups and on farming industry groups, all while working full time, running a farm with her husband Andrew and raising a family.
