Deniliquin Can Assist has not been alone in having to think differently about fundraising over the past few months. The key annual fundraiser, ‘Christmas in July’, had to be cancelled due to restrictions on gatherings and the committee have spent many a Zoom meeting coming up with alternatives. Through a partnership with a local business, Deniliquin Bakery, the Deniliquin branch ran a pie drive that raised over $1,550. Ordering could be done online and volunteers ensured that pick up was COVID-safe. The local TOMRA Return and Earn continues to provide support with locals who recycle their containers able to donate their refund to Deniliquin Can Assist. From April to August this has resulted in not only $241.20 being donated but also an impressive 2,412 containers being recycled.
