Class of ’25 hit town for Can Assist

For more than 30 years the annual year 12 fundraiser has been acknowledged as an exceptional school activity and contribution to charitable organisations.

Each year a charity is chosen to receive funds raised through a desire to financially assist people who have been impacted by adverse circumstances. This year Tumut High School have chosen the Can Assist Tumut Branch as their recipient, supporting local community members who have been impacted by cancer.

The 2025 Year 12 cohort wanted to honour Mr Mathew Lopez. In 2020 he was their first Year Adviser. He assisted  them to adjust to the rhythms of high school and supported them with all the issues which Year 7 students experience in their journey through a new school environment. Sadly, Mr Lopez passed away soon after.

Year 12 feel now it is their turn to ‘give back’. They remember how good it was to know that there were people who wanted to help. How a positive action could produce a positive response. (Today) Year 12 visited local businesses, raising funds in support of their worthy goal. It is important to note that it is not too late to donate to Can Assist Tumut in support of Tumut High School Year 12. There is a link on the Tumut High School website and Facebook page where online donations can still be made to the Tumut Branch of Can Assist.
