Swimmers are set to dive into the Tumut River on 21st June for the inaugural Winter Solstice Swim, aiming to raise funds for Can Assist, a charity supporting cancer patients in rural areas.
The event, initiated by Donna Martin, a former businesswoman and cancer survivor, will take place at the beach near the Tumut racecourse. Martin began swimming in the river last year for cold-water therapy after her breast cancer treatment.
Participants are encouraged to register here
A few crazy swimmers had a simple idea – we should swim in the Tumut River on the Winter Solstice. One thing led to another and now it is an event to fund raise for Can Assist Tumut.
For those who don’t want to brave the river there is the option to attend a stretch session.
The sole purpose of this event is for everyone to have some fun, raise some money and to do something most will not have done – get in the Tumut River on the shortest day of the year.
Please get tickets (no cost) so we have numbers, there is a BBQ post event and there will be coffee before and after. This is a fundraiser so please make a donation of any amount that suits you to support Can Assist Tumut.
BYO everything you need – if you are doing the stretch session bring a mat and towel, and if you are swimming, we do need you to wear your “togs”. The paying customers of Reflections will appreciate we are clothed.
Enquires to Donna Martin on 0438922019 – and if you have to please leave me a message I will call you back!
