Can Assist Young and Boorowa was formed in 1988. The branch raises funds to provide financial assistance to people in our local community who are undergoing cancer treatment.
Areas Serviced: Ashville, Berthong, Boorowa, Bribbaree, Bulla Creek, Burrangong, Frogmore, Goba Creek, Godfreys Creek, Kenyu, Kikiamah, Maimuru, Memagong, Milvale, Monteagle, Murringo, Reids Flat, Rye Park, Taylors Flat, Thuddungra, Tubbul, Weedallion, Yannawah, Young
Financial Assistance
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Accommodation Assistance
Lilier Lodge provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities including the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Calvary Hospital.
Purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, with the support of local and regional communities, it is managed by Can Assist. The 21 bed lodge is a warm and supportive home away from home.

For farmers, taking time away for treatment can mean leaving the livestock, losing income and worrying about who will keep the farm going while they’re miles from home. Sometimes, the farm can feel like a reason to put treatment off.

Can Assist Port Macquarie is run by a local committee, raising funds locally, with 100% of those funds going directly to those living in the Port Macquarie Hastings area who have been diagnosed with cancer and need to travel for treatment.

🌟💚 We’re so proud to celebrate Jenny Bourke from Can Assist Armidale!
Jenny has been named the 2026 New England-Northern Inland Volunteer of the Year AND Senior Volunteer of the Year. 🏆👏
Two incredible achievements recognising Jenny’s outstanding contribution to her local community, with Volunteer of the Year being the region’s top volunteering honour. 🌟
Jenny divides her time between three local organisations: Can Assist Armidale, Care for Seniors and the New England & Western Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service, giving her time, care and expertise to support people in her community.
Through her work with Can Assist, Jenny has helped raise funds and provide care and support for people living with cancer in Armidale and the surrounding community. 💚
