Tocumwal BRANCH
Murrumbidgee Region
Can Assist Tocumwal was formed in 2018. Our branch is dedicated to supporting local cancer patients and their families. All monies raised locally stay in the local community and each client’s needs are treated individually and confidentially.
Our branch began as “Tocumwal Cancer Support Group”. On 19th January 2018 a group of interested people met at the Tocumwal Library to discuss the idea of forming a support group for cancer suffers, carers and their families. A delegation from Cobram and Finley provided valuable guidance and information. A meeting was set for February 9th 2018 to elect office bearers. In May “TCSG” became affiliated with Can Assist after a presentation from Can Assist President Vicki Meyer. Mr Len Soule was the inaugural President of our branch.
Areas Serviced: Pine Lodge, Tocumwal, Tuppal
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Lilier Lodge provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities including the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Calvary Hospital.
Purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, with the support of local and regional communities, it is managed by Can Assist. The 21 bed lodge is a warm and supportive home away from home.
Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and community supporters. We thank them for their contribution.
Lilier Lodge
Located in Wagga Wagga, Lilier Lodge provides relaxing and homely accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment to nearby facilities. They understand the specific needs of cancer patients and their carers.

Now is the time to concentrate and actively work all together on the solutions. Our communities have stepped up and have been finally heard. If Karen and her husband were living in any other state or territory in the country they would have received a higher rebate – in fact, up to $72 a night higher.
On average, a resident of country NSW will receive $42.32c less a night than the rest of the country. What a disgrace!
Thank you Dr Joe McGirr MP and Helen Dalton MP for helping to bring this injustice to light.
