Parkes BRANCH

Western NSW Region

Assisting our community, locally…

ABOUT US

Can Assist Parkes was formed in 1986. We raise funds to provide financial assistance for people in the Parkes Shire with travel, accommodation, medication and other medical expenses.

We run a second hand market place selling everything from glassware and books through to larger furniture. Donations are always welcome and there is certainly a good bargain to be found for any buyer.  Come and visit us at 33 Court Street Parkes, open Tuesday to Friday, 9 -1, Saturday 9 – 12.30. For larger furniture pieces please come to Parkes Showground 9 to 12.00.

Areas Serviced: Alectown, Bogan Gate, Bruie Plains, Cooks Myalls, Goonumbla, Gunningbland, Mandagery, Nelungaloo, Parkes, Tichborne, Tottenham, Trewilga, Trundle, Tullamore

Financial Assistance

We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.

Our Supporters

Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and supporters both from within the community and further afield. We thank them for their contribution.

Calling all breast cancer patients from country NSW – have your voice heard!
Pink Hope is a metropolitan based breast cancer research charity. They undertake considerable advocacy work on behalf of patients and generate lasting results. They are currently conducting a patient survey that aims to bring to light the experiences and unmet needs of breast cancer patients in Australia. Given their patient contacts are almost metropolitan based we would like to ensure that they are also able to capture the unique impacts of breast cancer for those that live regionally/rurally.

All you need to do is complete this survey rebrand.ly/1734bcph-ca

Confidentiality / privacy is assured. It should take about 20-25 minutes.

Great advocacy work by Can Assist for country cancer patients, at NSW Parliament House! It was a privilege today to provide feedback from our Can Assist community network, alongside Royal Far West Manly Sydney NSW, to the NSW State’s Select Committee on Remote, Rural and Regional Health. They are conducting an inquiry into the implementation of recommendations specifically relating to workforce issues, workplace culture and funding considerations for remote, rural and regional health.
