ABOUT US
A new executive is required to sustain the branch and should you be interested in volunteering please contact us. All funds raised within your community will remain locally to provide financial assistance to people undergoing cancer treatment. Without the support of local volunteers the branch will close once existing funds are distributed for help.

Financial Assistance
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Our Supporters
Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and community supporters. At this time we need support both in volunteer time to run the branch and in fundraising dollars to assist with supporting those with a cancer diagnosis.

Timeline photosSurgery in Sydney (1,100km return), 4 treatments of chemotherapy, 17 treatments of radiotherapy and infusions every 3 weeks in Wagga Wagga (260km return) over a 12 month period meant Anna clocked up hundreds of hours of travel. The financial stress and the added emotional strain of being apart from family whilst dealing with a life-threatening illness can be overwhelming. Anna is now cancer free and is a regular volunteer for Can Assist.

After more than 3 years of treatment, 50,000km or 500 hours of driving Tommy is now cancer free and fighting fit.
Childhood cancer is uniquely emotionally draining. The extra financial burdens for families living in rural NSW can be crippling – both parents and often extended family members needing to cut back or stop work all together to make the long journeys necessary for treatment, not to mention petrol and accommodation costs.
