ABOUT US
Can Assist Lithgow was formed in 2015. Our local area covers from Little Hartley to Cullen Bullen including Rydal, Lidsdale, Wallerawang, Portland, Meadow Flat, Tarana and many more small villages. No one is alone and Can Assist Lithgow provides assistance for expenses when undergoing treatment for cancer.
The majority of our donations come from the coal mining industry employees and the electricity industry employees. Many local individuals and small business also contribute to enable our group to provide the financial assistance.

Financial Assistance
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Our Supporters
Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and supporters both from within the community and further afield. We thank everyone who contributes.

🏃♀️ There’s still time to support us in Can Do The Distance! 💚
The challenge concluded on 31 August, but donations close tomorrow at 11:59pm, so there’s still time to show your support.
Our fundraisers across NSW clocked up more than 3,000km together throughout the month — going the distance for country cancer patients. 🛣️

Every Can Assist branch has a story.
Meet Leanne. 👋 Leanne is the face of this year’s Can Do the Distance campaign. And just like so many of us, she’s doing the distance for someone she loves: her sister, Ellie.
Ellie was supported by Can Assist Harden and Young throughout her cancer journey, helping her and her family navigate the 5,000km they travelled for treatment. When Ellie’s cancer returned aggressively, she sadly passed away at just 27 years old.
👟This August, Leanne is walking 270km in Ellie’s memory, taking on 10km for every year of her sister’s life. Ellie was passionate about spreading the word about Can Assist so more country families could find the support they need, and find it earlier. Leanne is carrying that message forward with every kilometre.
