ABOUT US
Can Assist Harden – Murrumburrah was formed in 2000 when it broke away from the Young and Boorowa branch following a very generous donation from the O’Connor family. Our branch is very generous with support and we are committed to ensuring that people within our community have access to cancer treatment and care. By providing accommodation, financial assistance and practical support we ensure that the same opportunities and treatment choices are afforded to our residents as those who live in city centres.
Our membership has grown considerably over the last ten years as we welcome and encourage younger members of the community to assist in fundraising for us. Every year we hold a major fundraiser and we have now claimed the 1st weekend of March every year as “Can Assist Weekend”. Various events including Dancing With the Locals in 2019 provide our continuing funds with fantastic support from the local community and businesses. Our events are important social gatherings for our community with all ages encouraged to be involved or attend. Every dollar raised stays local to assist!

Financial Assistance
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Accommodation Assistance
Lilier Lodge provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities including the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Calvary Hospital.
Purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, with the support of local and regional communities, it is managed by Can Assist. The 21 bed lodge is a warm and supportive home away from home.

A bit late in getting up to date with branch happenings - sorry.
But last Sunday saw the completion of Ellie’s Walk at McLean Oval, where Leanne Schulz, her family and many supporters walked the last 5kms raising funds and awareness of Harden and Young/Boorowa branches of Can Assist.
$4,100 was the last count for Harden Branch - a fantastic outcome. We are so damned proud of the efforts of Leanne and very happy to support her in any way. 💚💛💚💛 A certificate and letter of appreciation was presented to her by branch President Carol Barker at our meeting o. Wednesday night.
On the day we also finalised the raffle of gift cards with Rodney Howe the very lucky winner.
Thank you again to everyone that has supported us in any way.

💛💚 10.30am tomorrow Sunday 30th August at McLean Oval Harden 💛💚
Get down there to support Leanne as she walks her last 5kms around the oval to complete her promise to Ellie to support Can Assist.
We will also have a raffle on sale and will be drawn around 11am . A BBQ will be available for purchase and donation tins for any amount no matter how small.
