ABOUT US

Can Assist Gundagai was formed in 1985. We assist with costs associated with travel for cancer treatment which may take the form of petrol vouchers, the costs of transport in the community car, travel by rail or air. The branch also makes financial contribution towards accommodation for cancer patients when under going treatment, for example at Lilier Lodge, Wagga Wagga or wherever the treatment centre may be. The costs of medications and dietary supplements may also be subsidised by the branch.

Areas Serviced: Bongalong, Bongongalong, Brungle, Brungle Creek, Burra Creek, Darbalara, Edwardstown, Gundagai, Jackalass, Jones Creek, Muttama, Nangus, Reno, South Gundagai, Tarrabandra, Wagragobilly, Willie Ploma

Financial Assistance

We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.

Lilier Lodge

Accommodation Assistance

Lilier Lodge was purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, together with the support of local and regional communities.

Lilier Lodge provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities including the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Calvary Hospital.

Our Supporters

Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and community supporters. We thank them for their contribution.

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Mother's Day raffle, and congratulations to all the lucky winners....

The raffle raised $1,000, which is fantastic. It's a huge amount of money and will make a great difference to us continuing to support local patients. We are very grateful to our generous raffle donors, Rhonda Armour, Carmel Matchett and Carol Smith.

The lucky raffle winners were:
Quilt - Carol Harris
Slippers/foot care products - Jenny Wilson
Plant - Jenny Smart

Pictured below: Rhonda Armour, who donated the amazing quilt prize, along with Mavis Turner and Peter Kingwill from Can Assist Gundagai.

A huge thank you the Gundagai Truck Museum for their recent donation to Can Assist Gundagai. The fundraising efforts come after their February Tractor Pull event at the Gundagai Showgrounds.

Pictured below is the President of the Australian Road Transport Heritage Centre, Malcolm Garner, presenting a $2,000 cheque to Phil and Anne from our local Can Assist branch.

This local support will make a great difference to many locals and is very much appreciated.

Check out Can Assist Gundagai's one-page spread in the April 'Can Assist Branching Out' newsletter. The monthly Branching Out newsletter highlights many NSW Can Assist branches and their recent fundraising events or local news.

The Gundagai Lady Golfers annual charity day is celebrated this month. As recently highlighted, the charity day resulted in $4,200 donated to our local branch. Another amazing effort by a bunch of amazing people.

Some of the pics below have snuck in from another local event raising money for Can Assist Gundagai. Thanks again to the crew who get together every year for the Tom Wells Memorial fishing weekend. But, the rest of the pics are from the recent golf charity day.
