Glen Innes BRANCH
Hunter New England Region
Can Assist Glen Innes was formed in 2012. The Branch members raise funds to provide financial assistance to local families affected by cancer. If you are having cancer treatment and live in Glen Innes or surrounding villages, please contact us, we would like to help!
Areas Serviced: Bald Nob, Capoompeta, Deepwater, Diehard, Dundee, Emmaville, Furracabad, Gibraltar Range, Glen Elgin, Glen Innes, Kingsgate, Kookabookra, Lambs Valley, Matheson, Moggs Swamp, Moogem, Morven, Newton Boyd, Pinkett, Rangers Valley, Red Range, Reddestone, Rocky Creek, Shannon Vale, Stannum, Stonehenge, Swan Vale, Tent Hill, The Gulf, Torrington, Tungsten, Wellingrove, Wellington Vale, Yarrowford, Yellow Dam
We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.
Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and community supporters. We thank them for their contribution.

Every Can Assist branch has a story.
Meet Leanne. 👋 Leanne is the face of this year’s Can Do the Distance campaign. And just like so many of us, she’s doing the distance for someone she loves: her sister, Ellie.
Ellie was supported by Can Assist Harden and Young throughout her cancer journey, helping her and her family navigate the 5,000km they travelled for treatment. When Ellie’s cancer returned aggressively, she sadly passed away at just 27 years old.
👟This August, Leanne is walking 270km in Ellie’s memory, taking on 10km for every year of her sister’s life. Ellie was passionate about spreading the word about Can Assist so more country families could find the support they need, and find it earlier. Leanne is carrying that message forward with every kilometre.
Maybe you could be the face of next year’s Can Do the Distance campaign? Or perhaps you know someone whose story deserves to be shared?
There’s still time for our local community to get behind our branch and help raise funds to support people affected by cancer right here in our community. ❤️ Give back locally and donate to our branch today: www.candothedistance.org.au

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, the impact reaches far beyond the individual. It's a partner, a parent, a grandparent, a friend or a neighbour. In an instant, life can be turned upside down. The diagnosis, appointments, decisions and uncertainty can leave patients and their families feeling overwhelmed at a time when they need support most.
That's why your support matters.
As part of the Can Assist family, our branch is powered by local volunteers, donors and supporters who believe no one should face cancer alone. Together, we can help people in our community access the practical and financial support they need throughout their cancer journey.
As the end of the financial year approaches, there are many ways you can make a difference:
🤝 Every hand helps – Volunteer your time and skills.
💚 Every donation matters – Make a tax-deductible gift before 30 June.
🏡 Every dollar raised stays local – Supporting people in our community when they need it most.

👟 What if 30 people from our community joined Can Do the Distance?
If each person raised just $400 (that's only 10 donations of $40), together we could raise $12,000 to help local people facing cancer through our Can Assist branch.
🫂 That's the power of our community coming together.
This August, we're inviting our community to take on Can Do the Distance. Can Assist's month-long walking challenge that helps local people with the everyday costs of cancer treatment. You don't have to be a marathon runner, and you don't have to walk every day. Simply choose a distance that suits you, ask your family and friends to support you, and every dollar you raise stays right here in our community.
Your fundraising helps local people with fuel, accommodation, travel, parking, medical expenses and other everyday costs, so they can focus their treatment. Whether you're walking for a loved one, a friend, a neighbour, or simply because you believe in looking after our community, every step makes a real difference.
Registrations are now open. Join our branch, start fundraising today, and walk with us this August.
