ARDLETHAN BRANCH
Murrumbidgee Region
Murrumbidgee Region

Can Assist Ardlethan was formed in 1992 and raises funds to provide financial assistance to people in our local community who are undergoing cancer treatment.

We understand that families struggle to cope with a reduced income as a result of a cancer diagnosis and that they face increased expenses from travel, accommodation and medical costs.

Lilier Lodge was purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, together with the support of local and regional communities.
Lilier Lodge provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities including the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Calvary Hospital.

Our Branch would not exist without our members, volunteers and community supporters. We thank them for their contribution.

🏃♀️ There’s still time to support us in Can Do The Distance! 💚
The challenge concluded on 31 August, but donations close tomorrow at 11:59pm, so there’s still time to show your support.
Our fundraisers across NSW clocked up more than 3,000km together throughout the month — going the distance for country cancer patients. 🛣️
On behalf of our branch, a huge thank you to every fundraiser, donor and member of our community who helped us do the distance this August. 🫶
👉 Head to www.candothedistance.org.au, select our branch and make a donation.
Save the date for 2027! 🎉Registrations open in July.

🔎 What do cancer specialists do every day to look after their own health?
We came across some interesting insights from three cancer specialists and thought they were worth sharing. While there’s no guaranteed way to prevent cancer, understanding the factors that can influence cancer risk can help us make informed choices about our health.
And if you or someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, Can Assist is here to help with practical and financial support to make accessing cancer care a little easier.
This post is for general information only and is not medical advice from Can Assist. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, lifestyle or healthcare.

Every Can Assist branch has a story.
Meet Leanne. 👋 Leanne is the face of this year’s Can Do the Distance campaign. And just like so many of us, she’s doing the distance for someone she loves: her sister, Ellie.
Ellie was supported by Can Assist Harden and Young throughout her cancer journey, helping her and her family navigate the 5,000km they travelled for treatment. When Ellie’s cancer returned aggressively, she sadly passed away at just 27 years old.
👟This August, Leanne is walking 270km in Ellie’s memory, taking on 10km for every year of her sister’s life. Ellie was passionate about spreading the word about Can Assist so more country families could find the support they need, and find it earlier. Leanne is carrying that message forward with every kilometre.
Maybe you could be the face of next year’s Can Do the Distance campaign? Or perhaps you know someone whose story deserves to be shared?
There’s still time for our local community to get behind our branch and help raise funds to support people affected by cancer right here in our community. ❤️ Give back locally and donate to our branch today: www.candothedistance.org.au
