We Can Assist
Can Assist is committed to ensuring that all people, regardless of where they live in NSW, have equitable access to cancer treatment and care. By providing financial assistance, practical support and raising awareness of the inequities, our volunteer network ensures that country people are given the same opportunities and treatment choices as those who live in city centres.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our grass roots organisation.

Today, Can Assist has 3000 volunteers and over 55 branches that are committed to making the journey with cancer easier for all rural and regional NSW communities. Ensure our charitable organisation continues to grow by joining our team of men and women across the state who selflessly give their time and effort to assist.

Can Assist has been supporting country people
with cancer since 1955
By providing accommodation, financial assistance and practical support to people from rural and regional areas, we ensure that country people are given the same opportunities and treatment choices as those who live in city centres.
🐴 Did you know? A 2014 pilot study looked at therapeutic horseback riding for breast cancer survivors and found improvements in physical fitness, strength and quality of life after a 16-week program.
Research continues to explore the role of physical activity in cancer survivorship and wellbeing during and after treatment. This August, we've been walking and running to shine a light on cancer, and this is a reminder Can Do The Distance is for everyone. 💛
That includes people living with cancer, those undergoing treatment, those recovering from treatment, and the family members, friends and supporters walking alongside them.
For some, doing the distance might mean a walk around the block. For others, it might be a run or a few gentle steps. There's no right way to take part.
